Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger

The Shell & Tube heat exchanger is one of the most widely used industrial heat exchangers for transferring heat between two fluids. It consists of a bundle of tubes (Tube Bundle) inside a shell (Shell). One fluid flows inside the tubes, while the other fluid flows in the space between the tubes and the shell, transferring heat through the tube walls.

Shell & Tube Design Types

  • • Single Pass: Fluid flows through the tubes once. Simple and common design.

  • • U-Tube: Tubes are bent in a U-shape; both ends are on the same side, facilitating maintenance.
  • • Straight Tube: Tubes are straight and fixed with tube sheets
